Welcome to home project #2! This month’s project started from a dire need of a workspace. I’ve started grad school this month (which is 100% online), I maintain a blog, and even my professional career requires me to work remotely from time to time. A home office space was long overdue! I wanted something that felt like it’s own space to foster my productivity, a space that was comfortable to spark creativity and a space that was stylish! So, how do you create a home office in a space that’s 900 square feet? I managed to do so, today I’m sharing my small office setup! Keep reading if you’re looking for home office ideas for small spaces.
Finding a Functional Space
My apartment this nook area sits in the kitchen and living room area. This big white space has been such a bore to look at, I thought this would be the perfect space for a living room office combo. This office nook allows it to be its own space, but still an extension of the living room space.
Home Office Wall Decor
Removable wallpaper is such a great way to spruce up your tiny office as décor. Wallshoppe has the best peel and stick removable wallpaper and it’s super easy to install with so many fun designs to choose from. Installing a removable wallpaper or painting an accent wall helps sections off the space in an any open room.
Small Office Desk Ideas
Desks can be bulky and take up space, go for a vanity stand instead! I found this vanity stand from IKEA that can also be used as desk, it was the perfect size to fit in this small space but also provides a great workspace that’s modern and comfortable. It’s simple, compact and has great storage space.
Best Chairs for Home Office
There’s only so much you can do with a tiny home office, being calculated with the details is key to transform the space into what you envision. A cute accent chair is splurge-worthy and adds character to the space. For optimal comfort, add colorful throw pillows or blankets!
Best Lighting for Home Office
I love eclectic table lamps, it’s a nice contrast to the neutral color palette that’s throughout my home. A cute table lamp is the perfect touch for a modern home office, and the great news is that you can find these anywhere at various price points, this beauty is courtesy of Anthropologie.
Small Home Office Organization & Decor
If space allows, add decorative touches to the space with a side table for a printing area or general storage. If you need a space for paper storage and other loose items, adding magazine files are the best way to create a home for the clutter and hide in the most stylish way.
Poppin’s desk supplies is my go-to for cleaning up my desk area, each piece is very stylish and modern yet sturdy and functional. All of the products match in design and they come in these fun colors that help brighten up the space. You can always count on a Poppin’ collection to upgrade your home office.
The slanted compartments in this acrylic pen holder organizes your pens in an accessible way so that you don’t have to sort through an overstuffed pen cup. I love the clean & sleek design, it reduces desktop clutter and it’s a cute accessory!
