Hi, I’m Daizsa and I LOVE wine. Fredericksburg, Texas is a gem right in our backyard filled with beautiful vineyards scattered along 290. For Dallas locals, it’s 4 hours away, making it the perfect small town getaway! The real challenge with visiting a wine country with a limited amount of time is knowing which wineries to choose. With over 40 vineyards in Fredericksburg alone, when visiting for a couple days (most people do), it’s safe to narrow them to a few to add to your itinerary.
The Aesthetic Gem
Signor Vineyards | 362 Livesay Ln, Fredericksburg, TX
Signor Vineyards is on its way to being one of the best wineries in the Texas Hill Country. It has a charming property and the wine is even better! Previously owned by a local surgeon, it was an old estate converted into a beautiful tasting room. It has two separate rooms to hosts tastings with large, beautiful trees overarching the property. The interior is to die for, where modern country meets rustic chic. Enjoy a touch of luxury as you’re enjoying a glass of wine. The staff is experienced & friendly and the wine is fantastic! A cute farmhouse is undergoing renovations, not far away from the tasting room, it will operate as a bistro and be available for private events. Add this winery to your list, if you can!
The Outdoorsy Gem
William Chris Vineyards | 10352 E US Highway 290, Hye, TX
I love the ambience at William Chris Vineyards. The outdoor space feels as if I was enjoying a glass wine at home in my backyard; relaxing, quiet and serene. An outdoor covered pavilion serves as a space for member events and outdoor tastings. I would suggest skipping a formal tasting and enjoy your wine by the bottle or glass as you relish in the moment. The grounds are gorgeous! Cozy areas sprinkle the property and are tucked away to enjoy your wine distraction free, and more than likely, with a nice view of the rich vineyards. I’m not a white wine type of girl, but they have some great white wine. If you want to experience true Texas wine, add this to your list.
The Gem with a View
Narrow Path Winery & Vineyard | 6331 S Ranch Rd 1623, Stonewall, TX
Narrow Path has a tasting room that is on Main Street, one of the main attractions in town. But you’ll be in for a treat if you head out to the vineyard in Stonewall, just 30 minutes outside of town. Enjoy a glass (or bottle) of wine with amazing panoramic views of the rolling hills and lush grapevines. This spot is on the off-beaten path of the wineries that line 290, a true hidden gem! The design of the tasting room is cutting edge with modern touches and the layout focusing on the view, it makes the experience that much better.
