It’s a little overwhelming if you’re a first time visitor in Napa Valley. There are over 600 wineries in Napa & Sonoma County; the good news is that your options are endless. The trade-off: you’ll have to choose. Planning a trip to Napa Valley? Check out a few of my favorites wineries as a starting point!
The Romantic Gem
O’Brien Estate | 1200 Orchard Ave, Napa, CA
Known for their Chardonnay, Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon; Obrien is a traditional yet beautiful winery sitting on 40 acres in the valley. Their wine is not sold at retail stores and is only available to club members, so this is a pretty exclusive experience. This is one of the best wineries in Napa Valley with a spectacular view. The tasting fee is at a pricey $50 but well worth it! This comes with thorough staff members & winemaking experts, great wine and gorgeous views. It gets better (and cuter), the owners Bart & Barb O’Brien wrote romantic poems about each other that are written on the inside of each wine label. Visit in the early spring to see the mustard flowers bloom across the valley. Want to experience Napa in rare form? Add this winery to your list.
The Contemporary Gem
Liana Estates (LE Wines) | 2750 Las Amigas Road Napa, CA
This is one of the best wineries you probably won’t hear about in the Carneros region of Napa Valley. It’s one of the newer wineries in the area and is surrounded by rolling hills of stunning vineyards. This is the winery to visit if you want to try some great white wines. Reservations are required for tastings and there is a pretty space outdoors for lounging and games like Jenga & Cornhole. This property is the most relaxing, as it’s so tucked away, you will be completely removed from any street noise or any neighboring wineries. When you visit Liana Estates, it’s just you, your glass of wine & views.
The Traditional Gem
Domaine Carneros | 1240 Duhig Rd, Napa, CA
This is one of the best Carneros wineries to visit. It’s very well known in the area, but I’m adding this to the list as one of the best wineries in Napa Valley to try sparkling wines. Domaine Carneros is a beautiful French-style château that sits on the top of a hill overlooking the wine country. The tastings are more laid-back since this is a very busy winery, the staff will most likely be as well. This is great if you appreciate a casual tasting; add this to your list if you like your bubbles!
